The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research was so impressed by the research proposal from SPARKee Prof. Simone Spuler that it made €3.3 million available to the team to carry out a clinical trial. Prof. Spuler and her team are using muscle stem cells to build new muscle. The first patient will be treated in a few months' time.

Am 19. Mai 2021 fand bereits zum vierten Mal der Demo Day des BIH Digital Health Accelerators (DHA) statt. Das DHA-Programm wird durchgeführt von Charité BIH Innovation, dem gemeinsamen Technologietransfer der Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin und des Berlin Institute of Health (BIH), zur Entwicklung von Digital Health-Lösungen und deren Translation in die medizinische Anwendung bzw. in den Gesundheitsmarkt.

Das Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) in der Charité unterstützt den Berliner Basketball Bundesligisten ALBA BERLIN bei seinem seit Monaten ersten Spiel vor Publikum: Am morgigen Dienstag, dem ersten Juni, werden die Zuschauer*innen in der Mercedes Benz Arena ihr negatives Testergebnis oder ihre erfolgte zweifache Corona-Schutzimpfung per BärCODE digital vorlegen können. Wissenschaftler*innen des BIH hatten einen fälschungssicheren, datenschutzkonformen und einfach anwendbaren digitalen Nachweis für Antigen-Schnelltests und COVID-19-Impfungen entwickelt. Der BärCODE wird in offiziellen Test- und Impfstellen erzeugt und kann bei der Einlasskontrolle per Prüf-App offline gescannt werden.
