Die Präeklampsie zählt zu den häufigsten Schwangerschaftskomplikationen, ihre Ursachen sind jedoch unbekannt. Eine neue Studie weist nun an Patienten, Zellkulturen und im Tierexperiment nach, dass bei den Betroffenen das Immunprotein CD74 der Plazenta verringert und bestimmte Entzündungsfaktoren erhöht sind. Damit ist der Aufbau der Plazenta gestört, und es kommt zu einer Unterversorgung des Fötus.
